Earthquake broke my teacup and dome :(

This was my beautiful teacup…

flea market etc 036

I got it from Craigslist and apparently it was worth a lot of money…I put in on my cupcake dome and stand…

flea market etc 032 I removed the dome so it would take a better picture …but you’ve probably seen it before…

flea market etc 037 I never got a chance to look it up it’s worth, she had a woman tell her on Craigslist that if you had the matching saucer it was $75.

flea market etc 033

So last night Los Angeles had a 5.0 earthquake…and here’s what it did to my stuff…

earthquake 009 Noooooooo!

earthquake 010 earthquake 011 All that survives is the plate and stand… Luckily I had an extra dome lying around that could replace my broken one

earthquake 014

Except the stand did not come out unscathed either…

earthquake 012

It’s got a nice chip on it now…

earthquake 013 This dang lantern survived…even though most of its panels fell out none of them broke…

earthquake 015 I would have rather had that thing break than my teacup and dome :(

earthquake 016 Poor teacup…I am going to keep it’s pieces and try to make something with them…RIP teacup :(

Oh no, sorry about your your things. I'm glad you came through safely. I hope the rest of your day goes better and you have no aftershocks.
God Bless the little teacup.

You felt it that strongly? Wow. We rolled and rolled, but nothing moved. I'm sorry you lost your pretty teacup. Get some Earthquake Hold! I know it's very inconvenient, but it really does help save our things. And you have to make sure nothing is top heavy. Domes tend to do that if it's on something with a tall pedestal. Lower things down a little, and next time you'll ride right through it - piece of cake!

So your homework for tonight is - walk around your home - re-evaluate what you have and where, reposition some things and tacky them down!

And make up an earthquake kit for your car!!!!

Hugs! Karen

Oh Sweetie..
I am so sorry for your teacup. We ran around looking at things but only lots of rattling... you and I need to get some of that earthquake tacky stuff. I have it but I just have not brought it out and used it since I moved. I only have my grandfather clock strapped to the wall with that earthquake strap..but I need to do the two other cabinets and the piano..and the hutch and the dish cupboard.. lots to do. I need to stop feeling like it will never happen...
You can make tiny little balls of that stuff...it hardly shows..but it's worth it!
Poor teacup! GET some of that stuff! I am!
Hugs, and I am so sorry. I know how you treasure your things..I'm the same way!

Sorry to hear about your lovely tea cup and dome. I had a whole shelf with 8 teacups and saucers fall off the wall. (Not from an earthquate.) These were very old which I inherited from my aunt. It broke my heart. I know your pain.

Oh, darn!!! That is such a bummer that your things broke! But considering the extent of what could have happen, I think we all got off lucky!!! Use your teacup to do some kind of mosaic. That would be pretty, it is such a pretty pattern. I've never heard of "Earthquake Hold" but I think you and I should invest in some!

Oh no! Darn these quakes! We've had lots of shaking this past year :0(
I didn't even feel the darn thing and I'm closer to the epicenter then you are! grrr. Now the Chino quake really knocked us about. It felt like someone had lifted my house from the side and slammed it back on it's foundation. That one scared me and quakes don't bother me much anymore.
Poor tea cup...RIP. Actually I kind of like the look of the broken pieces laying in the silver like that :0)

Oh, I'm in sympathy about your broken tea cup...it was beautiful...just try to remember how much joy it brought you....we need to treasure the blessings (friends) each day because we don't know when they might be taken away....

I'm beginning to see wrought iron bottle trees in gardening magazines, so they are becoming popular...yes, just decorations...

Thanks for dropping by....Betty

Oh, Allison! I'm so sorry! I'm just glad that YOU are okay.

Save the pieces and maybe you can do some sort of neat mosaic piece with them. Penny at Comforts of Home (and who has another blog about her shop) is a mosaic artist. Go to my blog and click over to her site.

So sorry about your loss. The good news is... there are always more shiny objects to find! While we mourn the broken ones, other pretties love jumping into your shopping basket! :-)

XO,

Sheila :-)

Oh No Allison!!! That is the worst thing in the world to happen...especially to a piece of SHELLY CHINTZ...Oi gaval!!! I am so sorry. I was standing in the hall when it happened and the entire house rolled for what seemed like 30 seconds. Both my pups ran and hid beneath my skirt...poor little babies. Did that happen in SD or MV?

Oh, if we ever get our tea society up and running you are more then welcome to jion us :).

xoxo cori

So sorry, but glad your alright. I went through a big quake in the 70's when I lived in Cali, so I know what kind of damage can be done, but teacups can be replaced, you can't! And I'm sure you will come up with a shabby remake! Hugs!
