Some Goodwill

Sorry about being MIA a lot. I have been a crazy 21 year old on her summer break and Taylor and I have been having some problems so I have been occupied. Aaand tomorrow I leave for Las Vegas for 3 days! Viva Las Vegas LOL. So I wanted to share something with you before I was gone even longer! Some things I got at Goodwill a while ago.

These candle sticks are like glass, not quite mercury glass. They are neat! There is a seam around the bottom where the two pieces were glued together and glue is icky so I am going to glue ribbon or something around the bottoms. Maybe add some shells. What do you guys think?

See the ugly seams? Next is a little fondue pot I got to share for a romantic dinner with Taylor and I…and a little plate that kind of matched.

And some candle sticks to make my own servers with. You know, glue the plates to the candle sticks. :)

So what ideas do you have for covering the seam!? LOL. Love to hear them. All the best everyone! Wish my luck in Vegas wooo!

Ooh I love the candle sticks. I think I would check out the beaded section of a craft store, they may have just what you are looking for. Seeing as how they are like a glass type material, I would go with a same texture. You can dress them up or down if you strung the beads on elastic bands and then you could change them seasonally. Even some of those wide scrunch(ies) I believe they are called come in some really pretty vibrant colors, and I love to twist them around items to hide seams. I just like the stretch stuff because it can be removed. You could also use seasonal wired fall leaves or holly for Christmas. If you attch something by gluing you are sort of stuck with it, but I find using the wired or the stretch bands the sky is the limit. Wonderful find. Love the little glass ones too. Take care, win big in Las Vegas. Don't forget your camera, take lots of photos to share. Bloggers love to go everywhere. Country Hugs, Sherry

Great buys. How about small bead around the seam, someting in a similar finish so it looks like it came that way.

Hope you have a nice trip.

Have a super duper time in Vegas!!!!! Don't fry up, it's probably 200 degrees!!! LOL When you get back you could put silver beads on the seam and then it would look like it belonged or black ribbon with a little flower and bow?

Hi Allison,
Good luck in Vegas and try to stay cool. The temperatures must be soaring out there! Great finds. Maybe you could try an adhesive remover to get the sticky stuff off. Shells would be a nice touch too. Did you know that the Dollar Tree sometimes have a bag of shells for only a dollar, of course.

Beads shells or even sea glass would be so pretty. Oh or even the little wreaths from Michael's, just place them at the bottom then you could change them out seasonally!! :)))

Well, the clear glue shouldn't show much. Or you could tie a ribbon or piece of lace over it. You're young; surprised you manage to find the time to blog as it is! Have fun!

Great finds, and I've missed you!!

I use some stuff from the dollar store called GOO Gone. It works great to take anything sticky off any hard surface.
You could give that a try, and if it does not work then glue something on.
They are so pretty the way there are.
Blessings, and since most are saying have a great time in Vegas, I will say that, and try to be good too! =0)))

Blessings,
Barbara Jean

For some reason...I never, ever find good stuff at the Goodwill in Riverside! I think...since Antique Mall vendors are right next to it on all sides...that they might have an inside track! Whatever the case...this is not a great Goodwill at all.
What great finds! Good for you!!! :)
